Night temperatures and what to wear, early to late October
By the Japan Meteorological Agency's normals, Osaka in October has a mean temperature of 19.5°C (67°F), a daily high of 23.7°C (75°F) and a daily low of 16.0°C (61°F). The start and end of the month are quite different, though: the daily low is 18.1°C (65°F) in early October and 14.0°C (57°F) in late October, about 4°C lower within one month. You can often walk around in short sleeves during the day, but from evening to dawn long sleeves or a light layer make the night more comfortable.

All three are open from 9 PM to 5 AM every day, so in October visitors often ask us what to wear for a night out. The numbers on this page come only from the Japan Meteorological Agency's normals (the 30-year average for 1991-2020) and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. October temperatures in Osaka: early, mid and late month

For comparison, the September normals are a mean of 25.2°C and a low of 21.9°C, and November's are a mean of 13.8°C and a low of 10.2°C. October sits right between summer and winter: summer-like afternoons, autumn nights and mornings. The humidity normal is 65%, a little drier than September (67%).
What to wear in Osaka in October, from evening to 5 AM
On most days the daily low is recorded around dawn. So it helps to think of 9 PM as somewhere between the mean and the low, and the walk home at 5 AM as close to that day's low. The table below is a rough guide based on the ten-day normals (everyone feels the cold differently).

Early sunsets, and it is still dark at 5 AM

Rain and typhoons in October
The October rainfall normal is 136.0 mm: less than September (152.8 mm) and nearly twice November (72.5 mm). Clear autumn days become more common, but rainy days are still part of the month.
Typhoon season is not quite over either. On a rainy night, our three bars in Higashi-Shinsaibashi are within a five-minute walk of each other, so moving from your first bar to your second is short.

Where to spend a long autumn night: three bars by mood
All three are in Higashi-Shinsaibashi 2-chome and open 21:00-05:00 every day, with no closing day and no reservation needed. None of them is a Korean restaurant; they are bars and do not serve food. Credit cards and cash are both accepted.
