Osaka Nightlife on Weekdays & Sundays:
What’s Open Late
Is Osaka nightlife dead on a Tuesday? No. Even on a weekday, a Sunday or a Monday, there are places that stay open late. The catch is that closing days and opening hours are set by each venue, and some change by day of the week, so check the hours for the actual day you plan to go. One thing does not change: the Midosuji Line’s last trains leave Shinsaibashi at the same times on weekdays and on Sundays. And our three Korean bars in Higashi-Shinsaibashi are open every day from 21:00 to 05:00, with no closing day.
I am Korean, and I run those three bars. Here is the short checklist I would give a friend planning a night out in Osaka when the trip does not land on a Friday or Saturday.
The weeknight checklist
- Look up the hours for your day, not just “today”. Google Maps lists opening hours day by day. Tap the hours and read the row for the day you are going.
- Watch for closing days. Some places close on certain days, such as Sunday or Monday. A place you liked on Saturday may be dark on Monday.
- For clubs, check the event schedule. What is on depends on the club and the night, and some clubs only open at weekends. Their official website or social media will tell you.
- Know your last train. On the Midosuji Line it is the same time every day of the week (see the table below).
- Check public holidays. Some places change their hours on a holiday. In November 2026, 3 November (Tuesday) and 23 November (Monday) are holidays.
The rest of this page goes through each point. If you want to know how the night feels hour by hour instead, see late-night bars in Osaka.
What changes by day: opening hours, closing days and clubs
Even at the same venue, the hours shown on Google Maps can differ from one day to the next. Here are two Korean restaurants near our bars as examples, as they appeared when we checked. Both are perfectly good places; they are here only to show why it pays to look at the row for your day.
| Venue | Area | Hours shown, by day | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| 冷麺館 心斎橋 (Korean restaurant) | Shinsaibashi | Sunday: 11:30–15:00 and 17:00–22:00 Friday: 11:30–15:00 and 17:30–22:30 | 27 Sep 2026, Google Maps |
| 楽韓堂 心斎橋店 (Korean restaurant) | Higashi-Shinsaibashi 2-chome | Open late into the night; the closing time shown varies by day and by source, roughly 3:00 to 5:00 | Sep 2026, Google Maps and a listings site |
Hours can change, so always check Google Maps for the day you plan to go before you head out. Same day of the week, different week? It is still worth a quick look, as the displayed hours are not always identical.
Clubs on a weeknight
Whether a club is worth going to on a Tuesday depends entirely on the event. Events differ by club and by night of the week, and some clubs open only at weekends. Before you go, check the club’s official website or social media for that night’s schedule. If it is your first time at a club in Japan, Osaka clubs for first-timers covers ID, dress code and going alone.
What stays the same: last and first trains
On the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, the last and first trains at Shinsaibashi Station run at the same times on weekdays, weekends and holidays. So a Sunday night does not mean an earlier last train.
| Direction | Last train | First train |
|---|---|---|
| Towards Nakamozu (Namba, Tennoji) | 0:15 (shown as 24:15), bound for Nakamozu | 5:21 |
| Towards Minoh-kayano (Umeda, Shin-Osaka) | 0:12 (shown as 24:12), bound for Shin-Osaka | 5:12 |
Times are from the Osaka Metro timetable; check the official timetable again before you rely on a train. Our bars stay open until 05:00, so some guests use them as a place to wait for the first train. For more on getting around after the trains stop, see arriving in Osaka late at night.
Planning a weeknight, a Sunday or a holiday
After work or a business trip
One drink after work, or a nightcap before heading back to the hotel. Pick the place first, check its hours for today, and note your last train. More ideas in Osaka nightlife on a business trip.
When your trip falls on weekdays
If your stay has no Friday or Saturday night in it, that is fine. Decide which nights you want to go out, check each place for that specific day, and keep the club plans flexible until you have seen the event schedule.
Sunday night, or the last night of your trip
If you fly out on Monday, Sunday may be your last night. Check that your chosen place is open on Sunday, and keep the morning’s plans in mind before you stay out until the first train.
Holidays and long weekends in November 2026
- 3 November (Tuesday): Culture Day, a public holiday.
- 23 November (Monday): Labour Thanksgiving Day, a public holiday.
- If you take Monday 2 November off, Saturday 31 October to Tuesday 3 November becomes a four-day weekend.
Some places change their hours on holidays, so check the day itself and the night before. Saturday 31 October is also Halloween; see the Osaka Halloween guide. For a longer stay, a long weekend in Osaka may help with planning.
