Osaka Autumn Leaves 2026:
Forecast for Osaka Castle Park and Minoo

When are the autumn leaves at their best in Osaka this year? For Osaka Castle Park in the city centre, the Weathernews forecast (checked on 5 November 2026) expects the best viewing from around 19 November. For Minoo Park in the hills north of the city, Osaka Prefecture's official page gives mid-November to early December. Both are forecasts or seasonal guides rather than guarantees, so look at the latest update before you set out.

I am Korean and run three Korean bars in Higashi-Shinsaibashi, Osaka. Below you will find the two spots side by side, how to choose between them depending on when you are in town, and a way to spend the whole day so it ends under the Midosuji lights and over a late drink.

Osaka autumn leaves forecast 2026: two spots compared

The timing row below simply repeats what each source says. The two sources are different (a private weather company's forecast and a prefectural seasonal guide), so treat them as two separate reference points rather than one ranking.

How to read the forecast

The Osaka Castle Park figures come from Weathernews, a private weather company, and they are a forecast. On the same page, the park's status as of 2 November was described as just beginning to take on colour, at about 20 percent overall. That is a snapshot from one date, not a report on how the trees look today.

Minoo's window comes from Osaka Prefecture's autumn guide to its prefectural parks, which describes the season rather than predicting a particular day. If you set the two side by side, Minoo's published window opens in mid-November, while the Osaka Castle Park forecast points to the second half of the month.

Leaf colour shifts from year to year and with the weather, so check each official page or the latest forecast shortly before you go.

Best time to go, depending on your travel dates

Many visitors cannot move their trip, so here is how the two published windows line up against the calendar. This only restates the sources above; it is not a prediction of its own.

  • Early November. Both spots are still ahead of their published windows. The forecast page put Osaka Castle Park at about 20 percent colour on 2 November.
  • Mid-November. Minoo enters its prefectural window. Osaka Castle Park's forecast best viewing starts around 19 November.
  • Late November. Both windows run at the same time, so you can choose by convenience: Osaka Castle Park if you want to stay central, Minoo if you are happy to ride out of the city.
  • Early December. Minoo's window lasts until early December. At Osaka Castle Park, leaves are forecast to start falling around 9 December.

One autumn day in Osaka: leaves, dinner, lights, then a drink

Autumn leaves are a daytime outing, and the city has plenty to fill the evening afterwards. One way to build the day:

  1. Afternoon: the leaves. Go to Osaka Castle Park or Minoo Park while it is light.
  2. Head back towards Shinsaibashi. From Morinomiya, the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line takes you straight there. From Minoo, take Hankyu to Osaka-umeda and change to the Midosuji Line.
  3. Early evening: dinner around Shinsaibashi. Our bars do not serve food, so this is the time to eat properly.
  4. After 17:00: the Midosuji Illumination. In 2026 it runs from 3 November to 31 December, lit from around 17:00 until 25:00, along Midosuji from the Hanshin-mae intersection to the Namba Nishiguchi intersection. The avenue above Shinsaibashi Station and Namba Station is part of it. Our Midosuji Illumination 2026 guide has the details.
  5. From 21:00: Higashi-Shinsaibashi. Walk a few streets east for a glass of soju or makgeolli.

Our three Korean bars in Higashi-Shinsaibashi

We do not serve food, so the easiest order is to finish dinner in Shinsaibashi after the leaves, then come over. All three bars are on upper floors in Higashi-Shinsaibashi 2-chome, close enough to walk between in moments, and each is reachable on foot from Shinsaibashi Station and Namba Station. Korean staff are behind the bar, K-POP plays all night, and the drinks list centres on soju, makgeolli and somaek.

Doors open at 21:00 and close at 05:00, every day of the year, with no reservation required; phone us or send an Instagram DM if you would like to book or ask something first. Card and cash are both fine. Guests must be 20 or over, and after drinking, please get home some other way than driving. Each bar holds a 4.9 on Google Maps; the review counts in September 2026 were 2,844 at HEAVEN, 678 at SARANG and 380 at 韓国バーMOON.
