What to check when choosing a darts bar

Bars with a dartboard vary a lot in how late they stay open, whether you pay to play, and what else there is to do. These five points are worth checking before you head out, whichever bar you end up in.

Common darts games: a few general examples

These are general examples of how darts is usually played, not a list of what any particular machine runs. In each one, a round means throwing three darts.

  • Count-up. Everyone throws for a fixed number of rounds and adds up the score. The highest total wins, which makes it the gentlest way to start.
  • 01 (“zero-one”). Each player begins with a set number of points, such as 301 or 501, and subtracts what they hit. The first to land exactly on zero wins.
  • Cricket. Players fight over the numbers 15 to 20 and the bull, the small circle in the centre, a bit like claiming territory on the board.

You do not need any experience. Decide where you are aiming, throw your three darts, and pass them on; that is enough to join in.

A night out with friends: darts, then karaoke, then shisha

Darts works well as the opening act of a group night, because everyone takes turns and nobody has to sit out. Here is one way to build the evening around it.

  1. Start with darts at Korean Bar HEAVEN. Order a round of soju or somaek and play a few games while the group warms up.
  2. Move to karaoke without leaving your seat. HEAVEN has karaoke as well, so when you have had enough of the board, someone can pick a K-POP song.
  3. Slow down over shisha. For a calmer second stop, walk a short way to 韓国バーMOON and settle into the lounge seats with a shisha.
  4. Or end quietly. If you would rather finish with conversation, our third bar, SARANG, is a quiet, fully non-smoking room with counter seating.

First time? How to plan the evening

Eat beforehand, since we do not serve food; dinner in Shinsaibashi or Namba first, then come by after 21:00. You can simply walk in. If you would like to check something in advance, call us or send a message on Instagram.

You must be 20 or older to enter. And if you have been drinking, please travel home without driving.
