How to Read Google Maps Ratings
When you read reviews of a bar in Osaka, the rating alone tells you little. On Google Maps, look at the number of reviews, the star breakdown, the newest reviews, the photos and the owner’s replies. Our three Korean bars in Shinsaibashi are each rated 4.9 on Google Maps, with 2,844 reviews for HEAVEN, 380 for 韓国バーMOON and 678 for SARANG (as of September 2026). That does not mean every review is five stars: all three also have 1-star and 2-star reviews, and you will find the numbers below.

Five things to check in Google Maps reviews
1. The number of reviews and the star breakdown, not just the rating
A 4.9 from a handful of reviews and a 4.9 from thousands are not the same. Tap the rating to see the bars for 1 to 5 stars, and look at how many reviews sit at each level. The breakdown shows whether a high rating comes with a few low ones mixed in.
2. Sort by “Newest”
Reviews are shown in a default order, so change the sort to Newest to see what the bar is like now. Old reviews may describe staff, a layout or opening hours that have since changed.
3. The photos guests have posted
Photos taken by guests show the inside as it really is: how bright or dark it is, what the seats look like, and how crowded it gets. They help you picture the night better than any description.
4. Opening hours and closing days
Check the hours on the Google Maps listing before you go, including holidays. Our three bars are open every day from 21:00 to 05:00, with no closing day, and Google Maps shows holiday hours as well: for the public holiday on Monday 12 October it also shows 21:00 to 05:00.
5. The owner’s replies, and what the low ratings are about
See whether the bar replies to reviews. For low ratings, look at what happened and when it was written, and whether the bar responded. If something still worries you, ask the bar directly before you go, by phone or Instagram DM.
One more tip: Google Maps also shows review topics, words that come up often in a bar’s reviews with a count next to each. They give you a quick idea of what people tend to talk about at that bar.

These are the numbers shown on Google Maps for our three bars, checked on 10 October 2026 with the display set to Japanese.

As you can see, there are low ratings too: 33 reviews of 1 or 2 stars for HEAVEN, 5 for 韓国バーMOON and 6 for SARANG. I am not going to summarise or argue with them here. Please sort by lowest rating or by newest and read them yourself; if anything bothers you, ask us before you come.
Review counts change from day to day
The number of reviews does not only go up. Google can also stop showing some reviews, so a count can go down. For example, SARANG had 678 reviews in September 2026 and 672 on 10 October 2026. That is why ratings and counts are best read together with the date you saw them.
The figures used across this site (2,844, 380 and 678 reviews, each rated 4.9) are from September 2026, while the totals in the table above are from 10 October 2026. That is why the two do not match, and the numbers you see on Google Maps today may be different again.
What the reviews talk about: Google Maps review topics
Below are the review topics Google Maps showed for each bar on 10 October 2026 with the display set to Japanese, with the Japanese word, its meaning and the number of mentions. The words change if you switch the display language.

For all three bars, the staff and conversation come up near the top of the list. At 韓国バーMOON, shisha also appears as a topic, and at SARANG, travel does. Read this as a hint about what people tend to write, not as a score.
What guests often mention
- All three bars: many reviews say the staff are kind and friendly, and many say they enjoyed talking with the staff and with other guests. Reviews are written both by visitors from Korea and by people in Japan, in Japanese and in Korean.
- HEAVEN: guests often mention having a great time with karaoke and darts.
- 韓国バーMOON: guests often mention the relaxing interior and the shisha.
- SARANG: many reviews come from people who stopped by while travelling, which is why “travel” appears as a topic.
- Many of the recent reviews have a reply from the bar (checked on the newest reviews shown for HEAVEN and SARANG).
Choosing one of the three after reading the reviews
All three are bars in Higashi-Shinsaibashi 2-chome, within walking distance of Shinsaibashi and Namba stations. They are open every day, 21:00 to 05:00, with no closing day and no reservation needed. All three are bars, not Korean restaurants, and do not serve food.

Do not judge by the number alone. Look at how many reviews there are, the star breakdown, and the low ratings as well. Our three bars are each rated 4.9 (2,844, 380 and 678 reviews as of September 2026), and the breakdown above shows the 1-star and 2-star reviews too.
Q. What do the low-rated reviews say?
I will not summarise them here. Please read them yourself on Google Maps, sorted by newest or by lowest rating, and look at when they were written and whether the bar replied. If something concerns you, ask us by phone or Instagram DM before you come.
Q. Do the bars serve food?
No. All three are bars, not Korean restaurants, and do not serve food, so eat before you come.
Q. Can I go alone?
Yes. SARANG in particular is a quiet, fully non-smoking bar with no karaoke and mostly counter seats, so coming alone is easy.
Q. Do I need a reservation?
No reservation is needed. Private hire and groups are possible; please ask the bar about numbers.
Q. What time are they open until?
All three are open every day from 21:00 to 05:00, with no closing day. Guests under 20 cannot enter.
Q. Can I smoke inside?
Smoking is allowed inside HEAVEN and 韓国バーMOON. SARANG is fully non-smoking.
